4-H PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS
Public Presentation time is here again! Every 4-H Member, regardless of age, should take this opportunity to develop the self-confidence, poise, self-esteem and skills necessary to speak before a group.
Some important skills you learn by giving a public presentation are:
- How to express yourself before others with ease.
- How to organize your thoughts.
- How to research a subject until you are comfortable enough to explain it to others.
- How to accept constructive criticism.
Remember: In order for any youth to be eligible for a 4-H Scholarship, Honor Award Trip, or to attend the New York State Fair, you must complete a Public Presentation within the current 4-H year.
Important: Every Warren County youth interested in doing a Public Presentation in 2012, as well as anyone interested in judging, is strongly encouraged to attend the 4-H Public Presentation Training event to learn about the updates and changes to the program.
Call the Cornell University Cooperative Extension Education Center at 623-3291 or 668-4881, or e-mail: mlb222@cornell.edu, to register.

4-H is Looking for a Few Good Volunteers
Warren County 4-H is looking for a few good volunteers! The 4-H Youth Development Program is expanding. We are looking for adults over the age of 21 who are interested in making a difference and have a sincere interest in the youth of Warren County. Training is provided and you determine the amount of hours you want to offer. Cornell Cooperative Extension's mission is to enable people to improve their lives and communities through partnerships that put experience and research knowledge to work.
Do you have an interest in rocketry or robotics? Do you like to take things apart just to see how they work? Do you have experience and/or knowledge in the areas of flight, rockets, or planes? Currently, 4-H is in search of a project leader for the Rocketry and Robotics Club. We are looking for an adult who is interested in leading and assisting with projects such as stomp rockets, robotics, and model rockets. Does this sound like you?
Warren County 4-H is also in search of an adult who is interested in assisting with our fly-fishing club, the Adirondack Reelers. Currently this club has two adult volunteers and is in search of one more. We are looking for someone who is interested in and has knowledge of fishing, fly tying, and local fish species. This person should be able to work with youth in an outdoor setting and is willing to share their knowledge and fondness for the art of fly fishing.
If you, or someone you know, is interested in volunteering their time to help the youth of Warren County please contact Cornell University Cooperative Extension of Warren County (CCE) at 668-4881 or 623-3291 and ask to speak with a 4-H Agent.
