Sportsman Education Program


Date:  Tuesday, April 3rd
Time:  9am-4:30pm
Location:  Dunham’s Bay Fish & Game Club

Must be at least 11.5 years old and have completed the required homework.  The homework MUST be picked up by April 1st  at the Cornell Cooperative Extension office in Warrensburg.  No fee for materials or class.  To register, e-mail John Bowe @ jfb32@cornell.edu

Spring Break 4-H Programs

Join us on Wednesday, April 4th for 4 GREAT 4-H Programs! 


9:00am-10:30am:  Fisheries Management Tour

Join us as we tour the Warrensburg NYS DEC Fish Hatchery to learn about the common fish species of the Adirondacks and how the hatchery works to keep our waterways stocked.  ALL NEW GUIDES ARE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND!   
** Please dress warmly as part of the tour will be outside.

** Transportation is available for those wishing to join us for Sport Fishing Jeopardy and/or SOUPer-Spring Lunch at the CCE office afterwards. 


11:15am-12pm:  Sport Fishing Jeopardy
Sport Fishing Jeopardy is the perfect follow-up to the fisheries tour.  Come have fun, test your knowledge and maybe even learn something.  Fun prizes will be given to the winning team.




12:15pm-1:15pm:  SOUPer Spring Lunch 

Do you like to eat? Come and join us for a “SOUPer” spring lunch of soup, and remember to bring your appetite as we learn about what makes soups healthy, as we make and then eat soup for lunch.  Bread will also be provided. (Cost for lunch is $3 per person)




1:00pm - 3:00pm:  The Art of Portrait Photography
Join us for an Introduction to photography program with avid nature and landscape photographer, hiker and Master Gardener Peter Benoit.  Space is limited. Open to 4-H youth 9+ years of age.  Bring your camera, I-Phone or I-Pad and don’t miss out on this chance to learn from an expert in this area.  We will have some time learning in the Education Center and then we’ll head outdoors and use our new skills in the field.  Dress for weather.

Red Cross Babysitter’s Training


Date:  Thursday, April 5th
Time:  9:30am - 4:00pm
Location:  CCE Education Center, Warrensburg
Cost:  FREE

This certification, offered by the American Red Cross, is designed for young people to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care to infants and children in a residential setting. Participants will learn about basic child care and basic first aid, receive certificate of completion. The program will be held on Thursday, April 5th, from 9:30 AM - 4 PM, at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County’s office at 377 Schroon River Road in Warrensburg, NY. Pre-registration is required, and there is no cost for the class. This class is limited to 10 participants, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

This class is being fully sponsored by Fidelis Care, who are partnering with Cornell Cooperative Extension to bring this program to local youths, aged 12 - 18. The generous sponsorship includes the fee for the class as well as full scholarships for each participant, covering the regular class fee of $85 per person.
