FUNDRAISER TO SUPPORT 4-H – We Need YOUR Help!

FUNDRAISER TO SUPPORT 4-H
  We Need YOUR Help!

Fundraising helps us to offer scholarships to leadership events for teens, defers the cost of the 4-H Public Presentation t-shirt for all youth who participate, helps offset the cost of 4-H dues for low resource families and helps with the purchase of 4-H program materials. This year we are trying something new and we need your help to make it successful.

Beginning in February, we will start procuring items (around $20-$50 value) for a calendar raffle in October.  What is a calendar raffle, you ask.  Well, it’s an opportunity for 4-H to raise funds by getting cool raffle items for every day of the month of October and selling raffle tickets to support it.  After we have secured at least 31 items, we’ll start selling raffle tickets for the raffle to be held every day during the month of October.  People can buy chances to win every day for an entire month.

Let’s kick off our new 4-H year with the most successful fundraiser we’ve ever done to benefit Warren County 4-H.

Please consider donating an item (gift certificates, baskets, items, or even cash) so that we can fill our October calendar with great prizes to win and support local 4-H’ers.  Donations may either be mailed to our office, dropped off at the Warrensburg location or we can come pick up any donation at your convenience.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us (518) 623-3291/668-4881 or email to rmw38@cornell.edu

How can you help as a 4-H family, member, or club
One way is to ask a local business to help support the fundraiser by donating a gift certificate, cash, basket, or item to be raffled off on one day during October.  OR could your family or club donate cash so that one of the days the raffle item is cash?  After we’ve secured at least 31 items (or more!), we’ll YOUR help selling raffle tickets to your friends, neighbors, teachers, anyone who wants a chance to win a great prize while supporting 4-H – so look for that soon!

On behalf of the 4-H Youth Development Team and the 4-H’ers in Warren County, thank you for taking the time to consider supporting our new fundraising event.

Seeking 4-H'ers for the 4-H GREEN TEAM!

Seeking 4-H'ers for the 4-H GREEN TEAM!
As 4-H has grown in Warren County and more youth have stepped into leadership roles, many have shown an interest in doing more for the environment. While the ADK Guides do an excellent job in introducing youth to local natural history, some youth would prefer a more self-paced community service to either supplement the 4-H ADK Guides or offer environmental action without the camping/testing component.
Interested 4-H'ers are encouraged to contact John Bowe at 518-623-3291 or jfb32@cornell.edu for more information.

STARR - State Teen Action Representative Retreat

Attention 4-H Teens!!!
There is a fantastic leadership training known as the State Teen Action Representative Retreat (STARR) that is happening from Friday, April 5th through Sunday, April 7th of 2019 at the NYS Fairgrounds in Syracuse. STARR is a great event that is planned and run by youth and adult volunteers. When you attend STARR, you will explore the various aspects of leadership, explore your own spark and, you will have a lot of fun meeting new and old friends.
If you are a teen (or will be 13 on or before April 5th) who is interested in STARR then we need to hear from you before February 15th, 2019. You will need to submit a 1 page essay to Dan at djc69@cornell.edu on any 1 of the following: What does leadership mean to you? What are some leadership qualities that you would like to develop? What are some ways that you might use new leadership skills in your own life or within 4-H specifically? Again, we need one page and, it only needs to answer one of the questions.
As with all trips, Warren County 4-H youth need to have completed their public presentations (or made arrangements with Roxanne) prior to STARR.
If you would like to know more about STARR then contact Dan (email djc69@cornell.edu) or John (email jfb32@cornell.edu) at 518-668-4881.
