YUMMMMMM....OH!!! - PINY COMPETITION COOKING CLASSES BEING OFFERED

Class Dates:
Saturday, February 28th,
Saturday, March 28th
Saturday, April 25th

In collaboration with the SUNY Adirondack Culinary School, 4-H is offering cooking classes with
well-known local chef, Matt Bolton.  Chef Matt is the SUNY Adirondack Culinary Arts Director/Instructor and he will lead three cooking classes at the Culinary School on Bay Road in Queensbury from 1-3 pm.

The classes will focus on basic cooking skills and food safety as well as provide an opportunity to perfect your recipe for the Produced in NY silent cooking competition.*   Dust off your parents recipe books or do some internet research and come to the first class with your ideas of what you would like to learn how to prepare with NYS product (s).   Chef Matt will help guide in the final selection of your recipe and you will learn the best way to present your final product for the judges.  This is a NEW and FUN opportunity to learn cooking skills and participate in the PINY cooking competition.

ä Class #1 – Meet Chef Matt and tour the Culinary School.  Bring your competition recipe ideas.  Food safety will be covered in this class.

ä Class #2 – Basic cooking skills including measuring wet and dry ingredients, crack an egg mixing, cutting, moving ingredients from left to right, presentation skills and additional information gleaned from the first class recipe selection will be added.

ä Class #3 – Cooking, refining and making your competition recipe your own.

Open to all Warren County 4-H members ages 9 and up.
Hurry space for this series is limited and
you must register for ALL THREE CLASSES.

Fee for the series is only $5!  Classes are filling quickly,
so c

*  Produced in NY (PINY) is a statewide silent cooking competition for 4-H’ers designed to showcase a variety of local agricultural products.  Recipes should feature a product (s) produced in NYS (milk products, meat, vegetables, eggs, grains, honey, maple syrup, etc.)

A “tiny-PINY” cooking competition will be held this August at the Warren County Youth Fair with the winners going to the NYS Fair in Syracuse to compete against
4-H’ers from across the state.

Visit the 4-H page at
www.cce.cornell.edu/warren website for more detailed information on the PINY guidelines or call the 4-H office and we can answer any questions.
