Are you looking for a something fun to do during the Holiday Break? Come join us for a “4-H Adirondack Rendezvous”. The day will be comprised of three fun filled workshops, free of charge and open to all. Come to one or come to them all! Please call the CCE office to register for any of the following programs (518)668-4881.
From 10:30-Noon, join us for “WHEP: Act like an animal!” Strap on some snowshoes (like a lynx or hare) and go for a snowshoe around the education center to look for wildlife signs, animals, and habitat that is adapted to winter survival. A hike will be substituted if we do not have any snow. Afterward, we will warm up inside with hot cider as we discuss what we saw, and register any birds we spotted on the Project Feeder Watch website.
From Noon-2pm, get cooking with “Flip for 4-H Pancakes”. Learn to make delicious oatmeal whole grain pancakes and homemade New York apple sauce! Make it all from scratch, learn why these recipes are good for you, and eat up!
Lastly from 2-4pm cast your cares aside and come have fun at a “4-H Sport Fishing Workshop!” Not only is fishing enjoyable, it is a valuable wilderness survival skill that has been a part of Adirondack living for centuries. We’ll be exploring and practicing the traditional skills of fishing from using just the right bait to casting like a pro. And, of course, we will be learning to identify various kinds of fish.
So, come spend a few hours with us and sharpen your fishing skills while having fun! If the weather permits, we will be casting outside so please bring appropriate clothing.
Trading Blanket: As many of you know, 4-H has started a “Change for Change” program and we are offering each of the participants a chance to “trade” in their change for 4-H swag! That’s right, you will have the chance to barter for various types of 4-H items. So, start gathering up your loose change and bring to the trading blanket to swap with the 4-H staff
