Throughout human history, many cultures have used decorated masks in traditional dance, theatre, and social events.  Now, Warren County youth residents and youth who are here for the summer have a chance to express their artistic side by decorating a facemask and sharing it with others.
In order to participate you must:

RULES:

1    .    Arrange to get a FREE plain, white cotton facemask from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County. Participants must use these masks to assure all participants are starting from the same point.

2    .    Decorate the mask with 4-H appropriate content of your choice.  “4-H appropriate” is defined as
non-violent, no swears/swearing, no nudity/pornography, no hate based language, symbols, or themes, and no political statements.   If you are unsure, contact us.

3    .    Take a photo of you wearing the facemask in question and provide your first name and last initial, age, and a means to contact you should you win.

4    .    Complete a photo permission form so that all entry photos can be used in a video or photo montage.

5    .    Winners will be announced on Saturday August 8th

6    .    Each participant is limited to one entry.

7    .    There will be four age categories: Cloverbud Youth ages 5-8, Youth 9-12, Youth 13-18, and 19-21.

8    .    The judging will be done by a group of volunteers (youth and adults) selected by Cornell Cooperative Extension.

9    .    Entries will be judged on artistic expression, creativity and originality.

1    Disclaimer:  By submitting an entry to this contest, you are giving Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County permission to use your image on our Facebook, social media, website, blogs, and in any public displays we can arrange for entries.

WE CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOUR EXHIBITS THIS YEAR!!!

Join in the fun from home when the Warren County Youth Fair and Talent Show goes virtual on Saturday, August 8, 2020!  The Warren County Fair Committee, with input from the Warren County Extension Services Committee, voted to move to a virtual format for the safety of the exhibitors, staff, youth and volunteers involved in the operation.  All those involved hope that the Youth Fair will return in 2021 and feature a homesteading theme.

Some of the most popular contests during Fair are pie eating, hula hoop, and bubble gum; and youth are encouraged to compete at home this year with prizes to the top winners. For those who are interested in viewing these events, please see our website listed below on Thursday, August 6 at 4:30PM for a list of links and expected times.   For internet safety reasons, all participants will be asked to register with name and email.

In order to still have these youth favorites and encourage participation virtually, we will be handing out “Fair Care” packages on Friday, August 7 to those who want to participate and have pre-registered with us.  The package will include the materials needed for bubble gum blowing and pie eating contests.  You must provide your own hula hoop for this popular contest.

Judging of project exhibits by youth will still be conducted in a safe physical distancing format and will not be open to the public this year.  Judging will be conducted in an open side pavilion to assure proper ventilation, as suggested by Cornell University and NYS sources.  A video recording link will be released on the CCE website on Saturday, August 8 at 11AM.

The 2020 Warren County Youth Fair Talent Show will be still be conducted using recorded performances by the artists.  The recording must have been performed in 2020 and must be submitted along with a release for public viewing by Tuesday, August 4th at 4:30 PM by email to warren@cornell.edu

All entry forms and fair book will be posted to the CCE Warren website: warren.cce.cornell.edu or the Warren County, NY 4-H blog: warrencounty4-h.blogspot.com If you would like more information about Warren County Virtual Youth Fair and Talent Show programs or any program that 4-H has to offers, please email warren@cornell.edu or call 518-668-4881.
