According to information from the USDA, 49.1 million Americans, and more than 15.8 million children, suffer from hunger. Child hunger is most prevalent before and after school, during weekends and holidays. Please help us do our small part in sacking hunger this holiday season.
Help us “sack” hunger this holiday season by providing the makings for a complete dinner for 8 people. Our goal is to provide dinner “sacks” to the 30 families in the North Country Outreach backpack program in Johnsburg before the students leave for the holiday break.
Help us reach our goal of 30 “sack” dinners by either:
« Buying all of the items listed below for a creamy, chicken dinner with pumpkin muffins and fruit for dessert and bring your grocery “sack” to our office before December 17th. Please find the “sack” ingredients below.
OR
« Sending a check to Warren County Cooperative Extension 4-H for $15.00 before December 17th. (please note “4-H Holiday Sack Program” on check) and we’ll do the shopping for you.
Shopping List for Creamy Chicken Dinner and Dessert: (serves 8 @ $1.87 per serving)
£ 16 oz. bow tie or shell pasta
£ 2 cans (10 ¾ ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
£ 12 oz. evaporated milk (choose 2% or fat free) + 1/2 cup water
£ 2 cans (14.5 ounces) mixed vegetables (Del Monte or Libby)
£ 1 can (12.5 ounces) chicken
£ 15 oz. can real pumpkin (not pie filling)
£ 1 box spiced cake mix
£ 29 oz. can fruit cocktail in fruit juice
