Imagine an activity that is relaxing and exhilarating at the same time.  Imagine an activity that lets you both commune with and test your skills against nature.  Of course, I’m talking about fishing, and there’s nothing like reeling in that first fish!  Many insist that the thrill never gets old.  We humans have been fishing for more than 40,000 years.  Back then, it was a matter of survival and fish provided many with life giving food.  Hooks were made from bone and wood and line was made from anything that could be found.  Materials for fishing line ranged from woven and spun plant fibers to thin strands of animal gut.  Thankfully, we've come a long way since then.  And, while many people still do fish for food and wage, the idea of doing so for sport and relaxation has fast been gaining momentum.  Ah, but this increased interest comes with a price.  There are more people than ever seeking to use rivers, ponds, lakes and streams.  More than ever, there is a need for education not only about how to fish but how to do so safely and responsibly as well.

4-H in Warren County once again has a program designed to do those very things!  This workshop will focus on trying to catch fish in a local water way while still being considerate of the surrounding environment.  The workshop is geared towards beginners but all are welcome.
