Our first Saturday Senior is Glens Falls High School Senior, Ward Sweet. Ward has been a member of 4-H since the 4th grade and has participated in shooting sports, public presentations, community service, and is an Advanced 4-H Adirondack Guide. After placing first in the Warren County Youth Fair’s talent show in 2018, he earned a trip to perform in the New York State Fair Talent Show.
He gives his “hands to larger service” in the community by volunteering for the Queensbury Land Conservancy, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Pennies For Pink, 4-H in Warren and Washington Counties and the Military Club at SUNY Adirondack.
As a student at Glens Falls, Ward competed on the GF National Alpine Ski Team for six years providing him the opportunity to become a more accomplished athlete and leader. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.
He will start his collegiate career this fall at SUNY Adirondack and then transfer to SUNY Plattsburg working to earn a Bachelors and Masters in Secondary Education with a concentration in history. He hopes “one day to maintain a classroom where students feeling left out, misunderstood and overlooked can feel included, valued and appreciated.”
Congratulations, Ward! Enjoy some highlights of your 4-H experience. We are proud of you and each of our graduates mean more to 4-H, their community, their country, and their world than you can imagine!
